Weight loss particularly during the holidays can be indeed be a challenge. More time, more food to eat and so much more to indulge. How do you resist those delicious puddings and crunchy, sweet, absolutely delicious chocolate cookies? They are all there asking you to reach out and grab a handful. However, when you are on a weight loss program, that is exactly what you cannot afford to do.
To be sure, one little cookie is not going to be a disaster. But it is not that one cookie that is the problem. It is the fact that one little cookie a day for a month can add an extra pound to your weight. So how do you resist those mouth-watering temptations and sumptuous meals while staying focussed on your weight loss goals during the holiday season?
- Do Not Skip Meals. Skipping meals is the best way to feel touchy, tired and hungry all the time. Thinking that foregoing a couple of meals can make up for those delicious holiday meals is a huge mistake. You would probably end up gobbling up more voraciously. The result? An unwanted addition of a lot more calories which is bad for weight loss.
- Eat Before A Party. It is a good idea to snack before the party. Select a high fiber snack. It can make you feel satiated and so there is less chance of binging on those goodies served at the party.
- Keep Your Distance From The Buffet Table. The buffet table spread, aromas from the delicacies and tasty looking dishes can be a real pull. You do not want to stimulate your senses in a way that may cause your willpower to be compromised. Choose a healthy helping of those foods you need such as salads, fruits and a snack or two and waltz away from the table quickly and gracefully.
- Keep Occupied. Read a book, tend to the garden, attend to outstanding household chores and keep being busy. It will get your mind off food to be able to survive through the threats to your weight loss efforts.
- Consume Plenty Of Water. An average of 6 to 8 glasses a day is recommended. You need more for better weight loss. Water is a great lubricant and helps you keep dehydration away during your weight loss program. Drink plenty of them during the holidays. It fills you up and you can avoid feeling hungry. Additionally, water helps to fire up your metabolic rate and helps flush away fats.
- Exercise More. Use the extra time available during the holidays for more exercise. It is crucial to keep your metabolism tuned and the adrenalin pumped up to keep you feeling fully charged. Enjoy your exercises but do not over exercise. Allocate time for adequate recovery.
