The Best Way On How To Increase Metabolism Is To Understand What It Really Is

Many people are trying to search for the key on how to increase their metabolisms. But do we really know what it does and how to increase it? Do most people really understand the definition? We do know that it is an important factor in weight loss but other than that what else. And how does knowing about it help you in losing weight?

Let me give you the definition for metabolism first. Metabolism is the rate your body will use the energy, or known to some others as burning calories. Your resting metabolism also measures the number of calories required to keep your body functioning. And everybody has their own metabolic rate and it's even possible to calculate you Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).

BMR is the rate at which your body burns energy while you are at rest. And can be calculated by simply multiplying your weight (After converting it to Pounds/Lbs) by 10. And for example, if your BMR is 1500, it means that your body burns at least 1500 calories a day through metabolism. And of course this calculation is just a rough estimation. If you really want to know your true BMR, it's better to ask for a professionals advice.

And as we all know, the more you exercise, the higher your metabolism. And people with a higher metabolism will burn calories more efficiently. So a person with a higher metabolism rate will burn more calories from what he/she eats. As for a person with a low metabolism rate, he/she will burn fewer calories from the same amount of food and store the calories that were not 'burned' into fats.

Lifestyle changes and Health are two important factors which can have an affect on your metabolism. And sometimes your metabolism slows down for no reason. As such it has been known that aging plays a serious role in lowering your metabolism.

So now that you know some basic knowledge on Metabolism. I leave you also with two well known methods to help increase and maintain you metabolism as well. First is of course aerobic exercise, which is mainly cardiovascular exercises, is one of the best ways to increase your metabolism in a short amount of time. And another one is anaerobic exercise, which is building up muscles.

So the more muscles you have, the more calories your body will burn which in turn improve your metabolism rate. So hopefully, now you will know how to increase their metabolism. And improving metabolism is the key to your weight loss success.
